Boondi/Shev laddu Cake With or Without Oven

Have you ever been to an traditional Indian Hindu marriage? If you are Indian than yes of course!! At the weeding you are given a big fat Boondi or Shev laddu (typically in Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka) at it is very hard to eat and most of the people don’t like. So at major it goes waste, so i have recipe for you to make a cake of this laddu. It is quite similar to the Jack Fruit Cake Recipe. So here is what u need:

Ingredient:
  • 1 big Boondi/Shev laddu (if small than 6)
  • One cup rava( known as suji)
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tbsp spoon baking soda
  • 5 tsp oil
  • Half cup milk
  • Handful of crushed cashew nut or any other dry nuts.
  • Preparation Time 35 min

There is one specialty of this cake is that it does not require sugar as it usses the sweetness of the laddu.

First take the laddu and soak in half cup milk for 10 min. We are keeping to soak in milk to make it soft as it is very hard. Later grind(mixer grinder) laddu in the milk and mix it well, now add the other ingredients like 1 cup rawa than add 1 tbsp baking powder and 1/2 tbspn baking soda. Start mixing the batter and when u mix add oil to it, and keep mixing till the batter is mixed properly.

Close the batter and let it sit for minimum 5 mins aside. Now take non-stick kadai you can also place a baking paper(optional) and grease the whole kadai with oil properly. Keep a pan on stove for heating now pour the batter in kadai ,mix it a little before pouring it. keep the kadai on the pan, we are keeping the kadai on the pan so the cake does not over cook and burn the base. Close the lid, and let it cook on medium flame for 15 min with supervision.

You can also do this in oven, pour the batter in a greased baking pan. The oven shout be 5 min pre-heated. Set the temperature on 150 C’ for 10 min.

let the cake cool for sometime and later remove it in a plate, you can add some cashew or raisin as topping and the cake is ready to serve hot.
